Strategy Adds $143 Million in Bitcoin, Lifting Holdings to a Record 847,666 BTC

Michael Saylor's Strategy is still buying. The company, the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin in the world, bought another 1,665 BTC last week, The Block reported, spending about $142.7 million.

That takes Strategy's total holdings to 847,666 BTC, a new record for the company.

The purchase in numbers

According to Strategy's filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on September 28:

The new total edges past Strategy's previous record of 847,363 BTC, reported in June.

How it paid for it

Strategy funded the purchase by selling its own shares. It sold about 1.47 million common shares for around $246.2 million in net proceeds. Of that, $142.7 million went on Bitcoin, and about $103.5 million went towards buying back some of its STRC preferred stock.

That's the model Strategy has followed for years: raise money in the stock market, then turn it into Bitcoin.

Buying into weakness

The timing is notable. Strategy was buying while Bitcoin was drifting lower, with the price slipping from the mid-$80,000s towards $83,000 as oil and interest-rate worries weighed on markets. Its average purchase price of $85,681 is above where Bitcoin was trading by the end of the week.

For Strategy, that's nothing new. The company has consistently bought through ups and downs, treating Bitcoin as a long-term treasury reserve rather than a short-term trade.

Why it matters

Strategy's steady buying is one of the most closely watched signals in the Bitcoin market. It shows long-term conviction from a major holder, even in a shaky week. Critics, though, point out that the strategy depends on continued access to capital markets, and that a large, concentrated position carries real risk if prices fall sharply.

The bottom line

Strategy added 1,665 BTC for about $143 million, pushing its stack to a record 847,666 BTC. Whatever the market mood, Saylor's company is showing no signs of slowing down.
