Oct. 21 (CandyPulse) — One of the world's biggest asset managers has put a number on Bitcoin's next ten years. JPMorgan Asset Management, in its 2027 Long-Term Capital Market Assumptions, projects Bitcoin will return 10% a year over the next decade in its base case. That's ahead of its forecasts for U.S. stocks, bonds and gold.
Key takeaways
| Asset | JPMorgan 10-year annual forecast |
|---|---|
| Bitcoin (base case) | ~10% |
| U.S. small-cap stocks | 7.7% |
| U.S. large-cap stocks | 7.5% |
| U.S. bonds | 5.6%–6.6% |
| Gold | 5.5% |
Outlets report slightly different bear and bull figures: some cite -9.7% and 17%, others -11.2% and 16.6%. Either way, the range is wide, which shows how uncertain the outlook is.
JPMorgan isn't telling everyone to buy. It kept Bitcoin out of its main portfolio models and said it does not see Bitcoin as a reliable diversifier, because its links to other markets keep changing. It describes Bitcoin as a speculative asset and a possible hedge against monetary easing.
Still, the move matters. Including Bitcoin in a major long-term outlook puts it next to stocks, bonds and gold in the conversation. Bitwise's Matt Hougan welcomed it as a sign that Bitcoin is being treated as a serious asset.
Big banks are moving deeper into crypto on several fronts. JPMorgan itself recently brought JPM Coin to Ethereum, and institutional money keeps flowing through Bitcoin ETFs. For the latest price action, see Bitcoin reclaiming $82,000.
