HOUSTON, Sept. 30 (CandyPulse) — Robinhood is bringing one of crypto's most popular and riskiest trading products to American customers. The company said at its HOOD Summit in Houston on Tuesday that it plans to launch perpetual futures for eligible U.S. users in the coming months, with leverage of up to 10x on bitcoin and ether.
Key takeaways
Perpetual futures, or "perps", let traders bet on whether a token's price will rise (go long) or fall (go short) without the contract ever expiring. They're the most-traded product in crypto worldwide, but for years most U.S. retail traders couldn't access them on mainstream platforms.
According to The Block, Robinhood's planned lineup covers bitcoin, ether, Solana, XRP, Dogecoin, Cardano (ADA), Chainlink (LINK) and Hyperliquid (HYPE).
| Detail | Figure |
|---|---|
| Max leverage, BTC and ETH | 10x |
| Max leverage, other tokens | 3x |
| Assets at launch | 8 |
| Trading fee (to year-end) | 0.01% per trade |
| Infrastructure partner | Bitstamp |
Robinhood has millions of users who have never traded leveraged crypto. Putting perps inside a familiar app could bring a wave of new traders into the derivatives market, and a fresh fight with Coinbase, which has offered similar products in the U.S. since July 2025.
The low 0.01% introductory fee is a clear bid to win market share quickly.
Leverage cuts both ways. At 10x, a 10% move against you can wipe out your entire position. Perps also come with "funding" payments between long and short traders, which can quietly eat into profits. New traders should start small and understand liquidation before using leverage.
Robinhood hasn't given a launch date. Watch for eligibility rules, which states are included, and whether the 0.01% fee changes in 2027.
