Vitalik Buterin Revisits Ethereum's Rollup-Centric Strategy

Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has recently reassessed the project's rollup-centric strategy, which aimed to enhance scalability via a network of designated shards. He expressed concerns regarding the decentralization of Layer 2 solutions, suggesting that they are progressing at a significantly slower pace compared to advancements in the Ethereum base layer.

Previously, Buterin was a strong proponent of this approach, believing that rollups could effectively address Ethereum’s scalability challenges. However, his latest remarks indicate a shift in perspective, highlighting that while Layer 2 solutions are crucial, their development may not keep up with the rapid upgrades occurring at the foundational level of the Ethereum network.
