VET Cools Off After a Strong Run. So, What's Next?
VeChain's $VET has been one of the standout altcoins lately, and the numbers back it up. Coinglass and CoinGecko data show $VET climbing roughly 30%+ over the past week, riding a wave of altcoin buying alongside firmer Bitcoin sentiment.
A big part of the story is VeChain's own news. On August 18, the community voted through VIP-255, nicknamed "Interstellar", the third upgrade in VeChain's "Renaissance" roadmap. It bundles 11 Ethereum improvement proposals (borrowed from Ethereum's Cancun, Prague, and Osaka upgrades) into a single hard fork, making it easier for developers to port Ethereum-style apps onto VeChainThor. The vote passed with over 99% approval, and activation is targeted for around September 16, 2026. That's a concrete catalyst, and it's clearly been fueling buying interest.
Zoom out, though, and the broader market is more cautious than the VET chart alone suggests. Bitcoin is sitting around $78,000, still below the $80K mark, as traders digest fresh inflation worries. Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's Jackson Hole remarks pushed up the odds of a September rate hike. CME FedWatch data has that near a coin-flip now, a sharp shift from just weeks ago when markets were pricing in a hold. That kind of uncertainty tends to make risk assets more jumpy.
For VET specifically, price is trading in the $0.0068–$0.0070 range, which is right up against the $0.0070–$0.0073 zone that's acting as resistance. Some profit-taking has already shown up after the run, which is normal after a move this size. But the pullback hasn't erased the broader recovery. The price action is still holding up better than it was a couple of weeks ago, and buyers have repeatedly stepped back in on dips.
Bottom line: the setup is genuinely more bullish than it's been in a while, thanks to real fundamentals (Interstellar) layered on top of market-wide altcoin rotation. But whether VET can turn this resistance zone into actual support, rather than fading back as so many altcoin pops before it have, will likely hinge on two things: how Bitcoin handles the $80K level, and how the market reacts once the Fed's September decision actually lands.
