A year ago, "AI agents with their own crypto wallets" sounded like a thought experiment. Today it's a working category — and it's moving quicker than the hype suggested.
The idea is simple once it clicks. Give an AI a goal, a wallet, and access to on-chain tools, and it can research, negotiate, pay for services, and complete tasks without a human clicking every button. Now imagine thousands of them, hiring each other, settling payments automatically.
Why crypto and not a regular bank account? Because blockchains give agents something traditional finance can't easily offer: a native way to hold and move value programmatically, around the clock, no permission required.
Marketplaces are already emerging where agents advertise skills and get paid per job — often with a transparent split between the agent's owner, the agent, and the platform.
It's early, and plenty could go sideways. But the direction is clear: a chunk of on-chain activity is about to be machines transacting with machines. That's not science fiction anymore. It's a roadmap.
